What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crane Operator (CO, WY, NM) position at Ames Construction?
Summary of Position
Crane operator(s) for a lattice boom crawler crane on various heavy civil and highway construction projects In Denver, Wyoming and New Mexico. Cranes may vary from 80 ton ton plus in capacity. Operators with experience in pile driving operations for bridge structures are preferred.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Operates crane to complete tasks such as driving pilings, setting beams, supporting crews with material handling operations, directing and assisting with rigging
• Observes load hookup and determines safety of load
• Proficiently manipulates crane controls such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate all movements of crane and hoist
• Uses hoisting attachments such as hook, sling, pile hammers, etc.
• Complete daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety inspections and other documentation as required
• Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanism
• Participates in planning and execution of critical lifts
• Uses critical lift plan checklist and signs off on completion when applicable
• May oil, grease, service, and make basic maintenance adjustments on equipment
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• 3-5 years of experience in crane operation on similar projects
• CCO Certification for Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes required
• Commercial Driver’s License required
Working Conditions
• Travel – Projects are Regionally based with current opportunities in Denver, Jackson, WY, and New Mexico. Subsistence provided on WY and NM projects.
• Schedule – Work assignment will be typical M-F, occasional weekends or nights, 10 hour shifts with overtime as project requires
• Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects.
