Amgen is seeking an experienced and accomplished computational chemist to join our small molecule drug discovery effort in the Computational Chemistry group, which is a part of the broader Computational and Data Sciences team in Amgen Research. This position is a senior scientific role with significant leadership responsibilities and opportunities. In this vital role, you will:
- Apply structure-based and ligand-based drug design to advance drug discovery projects, impacting project strategic directions and transitions
- Directly supervise and lead junior computational chemists
- Take an active leadership role in guiding new technology developments and infrastructure improvements

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 3 years of industry experience
Or
M.S degree with and 6 years of medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical research experience
Or
B.S degree and 8 years of medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical research experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD. in Computational Chemistry or related fields
- Proven accomplishments in drug design projects with 10 years of relevant experience
- Thorough understanding of the drug discovery process from lead screening to late-stage optimization and know how to maximize the impact of molecular modeling
- Good external publication record with a minimum of five or more scientific publications or conference presentations
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability as a strong team leader
