Dance Instructor

Amherst Ballet is seeking experienced dance instructors in all genres (Ballet, Hip Hop, and Modern/Contemporary) for the 22-23 season.

Responsibilities:

• Designs and leads 1-1.5 hour dance classes for students of one's preferred age ranges following the Artistic Director's guidance.
• Provides each student with individualized corrections during class.
• Makes sure that every student feels positively challenged.
• Choreographs a piece or two for the annual performance.
• Assists the Artistic Director with rehearsals for the show.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Strong dance skills and experience
• At least a year of dance teaching experience
• Positive and considerate personality
• Punctuality and responsibility

Required Materials:

• Teaching Philosophy including the styles of dance that you instruct and preferred age range for students
• Resume
• Video or Photo of your teaching, choreography, and/or dancing

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Amherst, MA 01002: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Dancing: 5 years (Required)
• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
