We are looking for a Materials Supervisor
As the Materials Supervisor here at AMTB's Detroit manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient management of raw materials, optimizing material flow, and ensuring the timely shipment of products to meet daily production demands. Your role will be pivotal in meeting Capability and Performance targets through effective materials management, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Materials Supervision: Ensure the availability of raw materials, efficient material flow, and on-time shipment of products to meet daily production requirements.
- Performance Targets: Drive the achievement of Capability and Performance targets across all manufacturing processes through effective materials management.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve manufacturing and work processes to increase product profitability and operational efficiency.
- Team Development: Coach and develop the materials team, fostering individual growth and teamwork to enhance execution of the plant’s production processes.
- Production Planning: Plan production requirements, considering machine and labor resources, to optimize output and meet customer demands.
- Product Flow & MRP: Collaborate with the Materials Manager to plan and manage product flow for the Detroit plant, maintaining the MRP system for accurate material requirements planning.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Determine production schedules based on customer requirements, maintaining coordination with customers and carriers for shipping schedules. Work with the engineering department to schedule prototype production as needed.
- Product Identification & Traceability: Ensure proper identification and traceability of products throughout the manufacturing process.
- Training & Development: Train shipping and receiving personnel on the CMS system and ensure thorough understanding. Provide ongoing training to co-workers to maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices, and Job Safe Practices, ensuring knowledge transfer and adherence to safety standards.
- Preventive Maintenance: Support the scheduling and implementation of preventive maintenance programs in collaboration with the Production and Engineering teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist in the planning and execution of Continuous Improvement projects to enhance efficiency and profitability, working closely with Production and Engineering Managers.
- Lean Manufacturing: Manage material requirements to ensure 100% fulfillment of customer orders while maintaining profitability objectives within a lean manufacturing environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Assist in planning and implementing machinery and equipment changes, coordinating associated scheduling and inventory needs with Production and Engineering teams.
Skills, Requirements, and Personal Traits:
- Bachelors Degree preferred but not required
- 5 years working within the Automotive Industry at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive Supplier strongly preferred
- Prior experience supervising and leading a team within a Manufacturing environment
- Must be proficient with Excel and other MS Office Tools
- Experience working with MRP systems – AS400 (CMS) strongly preferred
- Experience working with various international customs and freight transportation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lead cross functional teams
- High degree of integrity
- Proven ability to achieve results
- Proactive in learning and development activities
- Proven ability to work with and develop people
