Summary

Responsible for the implementation, analysis and administration of various compensation programs and initiatives for the U.S. and international businesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Compensation

  • Develop, document, implement and monitor the effectiveness and sustainability of existing compensation policies, guidelines, procedures, and plans/programs. Recommend revisions as well as new plans/programs that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and company objectives.
  • Design, recommend and manage common compensation components, including job classifications, salary structure evaluation and design, merit pay processes and job design.
  • As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) provide advice and guidance to HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition team members on policy and guideline interpretation, classification of positions, job evaluation, competitive assessment, compensation infrastructure, variable pay, etc.
  • In partnership with the Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) team, manage the execution of the annual merit and bonus process.
  • Responsible for working with HR Business Partners, Hiring Managers, and incumbents to prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensure descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by the incumbent.  Interview and survey employees and managers to gather and document job, organization and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.
    • Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or non-exempt.
    • Benchmark job against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position and review internal equity.
    • Analyze organization structure and tiers/levels for internal and external roles.
  • Evaluate and recommend job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Responsible for benchmarking, maintaining, and updating of salary ranges aligned to the market, internal equity, pay equity, etc.
  • Research market and pay trends to determine benchmark compensation and to ensure compliance with company policies and laws.
  • Complete special projects and compensation analysis on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Evaluate pay changes (ranges, geographical differentials, on-call, language, shift differentials, hazard pay, etc.) market adjustments and communicate with leadership.
  • Collaborate with business partners to continually improve processes, drive for continued improvement in efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.
  • Participate in and/or conduct salary surveys.  Analyze and report results.
  • Run analytics to proactively assess function or market level compensation health and conduct ad-hoc analyses related to compensation. Draw trends and insights from the data analysis and effectively represent the data visually.
  • Responsible for conducting or supporting reviews or audits (e.g., FLSA, pay equity).
  • Perform regular data audits to ensure and improve accuracy and data integrity in the Human Resource Management System (HRMS).
  • Administer the preparation and distribution of the annual total rewards statements.
  • Stay apprised of relevant compensation laws and regulations to ensure we stay compliant.

 

Other

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the compensation programs and HRMS.
  • Develop, update and maintain best practice policies and procedures guide for compensation and HRMS.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements and efficiencies in the compensation and HRMS programs and processes.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with managers and staff to provide guidance and support on compensation and HRMS initiatives and to receive feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferably in business, economics, statistics, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Compensation Analyst (CCA), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR)

 

Experience

  • 5 years of compensation analyst experience.
  • Experience in a HRMS, prefer Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) formerly Ultimate Software.
  • Experience in pricing and forecasting software tools (e.g., Aon Hewitt, CompAnalyst, Mercer).
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing and retail preferred.
  • International experience a plus.

 

 

Skills

  • Must have solid, Word, PowerPoint, and internet navigation skills. Must have advanced skill proficiency with Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, proven attention to detail, sense of urgency, excellent follow-through, ability to successfully handle multiple priorities concurrently, and ability to handle sensitive information with the strictest of confidentiality are required skills and attributes of this position.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, be able to work in a deadline-oriented environment, and be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills, able to interpret data, build sophisticated spreadsheets, summarize results and make recommendations.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to work with people of diverse educational, ethnic and economic backgrounds.

 

Language Skills

 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, case studies, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or employees.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to translate and relate complex information in a straight forward and non-jargon based way.

 

Mathematic Skills

 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

 

  • Ability to solve practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

California Compensation Range: $85,600-$128,400*This range is for California employees in a high cost of living. Other locations may be subject to a lower range.
