Job Posting for Procurement and Scheduling Manager at Anderson Erickson Dairy
Do you want to work for an industry leader? AE Dairy has been in business since 1930 and is the largest family-owned dairy in the United States. We are a 24/7 food manufacturing facility looking for a strong leader to oversee procurement, production scheduling, and warehousing.
Primary Responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers while negotiating to secure advantageous terms for continued business (contracts, terms, deadlines, etc.).
Work with users of purchased materials to develop a vendor scorecard to quantify vendor relationships.
Approve and execute the ordering of necessary goods and services to ensure that inventory is always available for production.
Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
Benchmark our current pricing with other sources in industry to determine opportunities for cost savings.
Identify and evaluate new suppliers to support new product innovations or cost saving initiatives.
Be a liaison with outside buying groups to investigate AE’s ability to coordinate with other entities to further enhance bargaining positions.
Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations, product availability, inventory levels (Days-On-Hand), etc. Work to reduce inventory levels while minimizing shortage risk to the operation.
Oversee the warehouse operations including maintaining accurate inventory, ensure product stored in safe/organized manner, and ensure all GMP requirements are being met.
Create and/or oversee the development of the plant production schedule using historical data and input from the sales organization.
Maintain a high level of case fill rate in the cooler and minimize waste of reprocess/donate due to excess product in cooler. Track and report out on these critical metrics.
Apply continuous improvement concepts to streamline and reduce waste in all processes within your areas of responsibility.
Preferred attributes and experience shall include the following:
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience as a Procurement Manager or Production Scheduler
Technical knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse operations
Proficient use of variety of computer systems and software applications
Knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement techniques
Talent in negotiations, networking, and contract structure
Experience in collecting and analyzing data and using it to make informed decisions
Understanding of continuous improvement and experience with implementation
Bachelor degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
Key Metric Responsibility
Case Fill Rate (percentage of orders filled for distribution).
Scrap Rate (dollars of scrap material due to over production).
Unplanned downtime (production waiting due to raw or packaging materials).
Annual Cost Savings (net structural savings through procurement efforts)
