The Role
As the second Talent hire for GAMES FUND ONE, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the vision and operations of our nascent team. You will work closely with our portfolio companies, assisting them with all matters related to hiring talent, with a focus on Technical, Production, and Product Management disciplines. Portfolio support could include advisory conversations, direct introductions to top-tier talent, providing training (sourcing, interviewing, etc.), or any other approach that would best equip founders and their teams to prepare for the monumental challenge of building their organizations. To join our team, you should be excited to:
- Build the a16z games talent network & strategy from scratch - with a specific focus on technical, production and product management disciplines.
- Support hiring & talent advisory / consultation needs across a myriad of portfolio companies, including but not limited to: studios (PC, Console, Mobile, AR, VR), publishers, game-SaaS, and gamer-focused consumer companies.
- Contribute to the design and authorship of “off-the-shelf” portfolio company resources and training materials.
- Move “up and down the stack” - supporting all roles or efforts that will have the highest impact on portfolio company success.
- Closely partner with the rest of the GAMES FUND ONE team, composed of both investors and veteran game operators.
Minimum Qualifications
- Passion for / knowledge about the video gaming industry both as a consumer and a professional
- Expert ability to find, solicit, advise and close candidates - supported by 7 years experience working in recruiting / talent acquisition as a full-cycle recruiter
- Access to a cultivated network of games talent - of the 7 years in recruiting / talent acquisition, 5 years experience staffing engineering, production and product management searches within AAA gaming companies / studios, spanning individual contributors to senior management levels
- 2 years experience delivering training or mentorship as a core part of your role
- This role is based in Los Angeles, CA, but we are opened to applicants based in SF Bay Area, CA
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $238,000-$278,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
This role is eligible to participate in the a16z Carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
