Andritz Metals USA, Inc. is seeking a qualified EDT Operator to Inspect and prepare rolls for texture. Operate the Electronic Discharge Texturing (EDT) machines to apply texture to the rolls. Perform routine maintenance to equipment. This position is located in Chesterton, IN.
Job Duties include:
- Clean and inspect roll for chatter, traverse lines, wheel pattern, rust, and other blemishes.
- Prep roll for EDT including stripping old caulk and re-caulking rolls that are to be chrome plated after EDT.
- Setup EDT machine for roll type being processed.
- Select program for EDT machine and make adjustment to program if necessary.
- Monitor the operating parameters of the EDT machine during the texturing of the roll.
- Know and understand the EDT dielectric system and the maintenance required.
- Perform routine maintenance daily on EDT machine including changing electrodes, building and changing the baths, spray down of heads, cleaning filters, etc.
- Inspect roll for surface finish using profilometer after EDT.
- Understand roll shop definitions and roll defects such as traverse, pattern, open surface, porosity, etc.
- Complete all required paperwork, including special reporting as requested from the customer or from management.
- Have a basic understanding of the proper use, maintenance and storage of hand tools.
Job requirements:
A basic understanding of electricity and electronics, and experience using and interfacing with computers is required. Must have a mechanical aptitude. Ability to work with hand and use small hand tools is a must. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
