ANDRITZ HYDRO USA operates in a niche market that provides overhaul and rehabilitation to hydro power plants. The work encompasses a wide range of repair, replacement and improvement services to restore dependability and sustainability to hydropower facilities, or to increase capacity and/or efficiency. Projects range in size and scope, but routinely span from component assessment, design, and procurement to site installation and commissioning. Hydropower is recognized as the most economic form of renewable energy, and the company is committed to environmentally friendly concepts.
Principles duties:
Major responsibilities are listed, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Provide project cost estimates from conceptual design through project handover to construction utilizing structural, civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental knowledge.
- Assemble all project costs in a structured methodology to facilitate customer specified pricing format.
- Gathers details and compiles data to estimate all refurbishment costs according to specifications.
- Ensures complete scope of estimations for all phases of work required, considering raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor and transportation.
- Interface with Sales Manager, Sales Engineer, Project Managers, and Purchasing Agents.
- Helps prepare contract proposals and other documents to establish negotiating position for the Sales Manager
- Provides support in price negotiations.
Education and Experience:
- A college degree in Business or Engineering is required.
- 2 year’s experience in Estimating/Proposal Engineering in an Industrial construction environment is preferred.
- Requires knowledge of estimating procedures/techniques and typical construction assemblies, practices and methods.
- Ability to foster collaborative and positive working relationships.
- Requires strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Requires strong communication skills; ability to verbally discuss product and pricing issues with customers and team members.
- Experience in the hydropower or related industry (i.e. pumps, pulp and paper) is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Project.
- Occasional travel may be required.
