Materials Planner

MATERIALS PLANNER   JOB SUMMARY:   The Materials Planner is a critical leadership role within the Material Planning Team. This headquarters-based position reports to the Head of Inventory Control, Planning, and Scheduling with a focus on building an understanding of our customer’s systems and processes to ensure timely material availability for pre-production builds. The successful candidate will use their materials office and inventory management skills to resolve all pre-production part availability issues. The candidate will work closely with all the functional areas (Program Management, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Plant Materials) and the customer, to identify, root-cause and communicate part issues in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Hold self, customer, and plant teams accountable for the successful delivery of pilot parts to the line in time for building milestones. Identify open Items based on product knowledge and scope of contracts. Escalate open items to the appropriate stakeholders to maintain deadlines. Work with plant materials team to ensure record integrity for both buildout and new model launch parts. Perform kitting to support launch(es) activities as required. Interact with the customer and supply base (as required) confirming shipment plans. Lead critical part discussions and effectively manage priority items. Report pilot part delivery status to both program and plant management. All other duties as assigned.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, materials or operational management, logistics, business administration, or equivalent. Years of Experience: 3 years in material control.   TRAVEL:    Travel Required: Yes – up to 75%   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:   Proficient in the use of the full Microsoft office suite of tools. Proficient in MGO, Covisint, MP&L in a Box, and Pilot Portal. Engineering experience or knowledge of automotive assembly build processes. Floor experience in an automotive warehouse and inventory management environment. Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members – manufacturing, engineering, management, and other functional groups.
