Summary/Objective: The Andromeda Community Initiative (ACI), is seeking a Job Developer to drive
enrollment and client outcomes in our new New Rochelle based workforce development program. Our
New Rochelle program is designed to recruit minority and other underrepresented populations in the arena
of construction, engage them in hands-on and certification based construction job training, place them in
employment, and provide ongoing support to enhance their job retention and career advancement. The

ACI is a nonprofit entity providing professional development opportunities, free education/workforce
programs, and hands on/certification training to prepare students for gainful employment in the construction
and building restoration industry, Headquartered in Long Island City, New York, ACI provides quality
training and workforce development programming imparted by subject matter experts, bridging the gap
between companies in need of qualified workers and individuals seeking quality, career ladder employment.
Essential Functions: Reporting to ACI’s New Rochelle Program Director, The Job Developer will
market the program and its graduates to the local construction industry, coach and develop participants to
ready them for interview, generate multiple employer accounts, and identify, track and fill specific job
orders. Specifically the Job Developer will:
- Plan and implement a focused employer outreach and engagement strategy;
- Conduct targeted business outreach harnessing the City’s direct relationship with developers and
contractors, The work of the nonprofit contractor readying MWBEs for construction contracting
opportunities (to whom ACI is subcontracting), and traditional job development approaches
including cold calling, internet research, job fairs, and fieldwork; - Regularly invite employers to ACI’s training center to allow them to inform our work, volunteer
their time and participation in our training, and engage in candidate observation and recruitment; - Maintain and continually update a job bank of employers consisting of relevant contacts and their
specific hiring needs and preferences; - Meet with participants to understand their unique interests and circumstances, prepare them for
interview and self-directed job search, and provide coaching, mock interviews and resume
preparation; - Match participants to available jobs, coordinate interviews, and engage in follow up calling with
both parties to determine interview success and report in our data systems; - In conjunction with the Manager of Recruitment and Support, obtain verification of employment
from employers per the demands of the contract: - Continue to work with unplaced clients and clients who loose employment, refining approach and
identifying social service or counseling needs for the Manager of Recruitment and Support; - Make follow up calls to employers soon after graduates start work and on an ongoing basis to
troubleshoot relationships, capture and record employment data, and identify further hiring needs;
and - Carry out other duties necessary to launch and operate this program.
Competencies: The Job Developer will have:
- Prior experience as a job developer, business developer, sales professional or similar with
demonstrable experience meeting performance goals on a regular basis; - Awareness of the construction industry, basic construction careers or similar;
- Personal or professional experience in a social service environment and an understanding of the
barriers and issues faced by individuals in need and overcoming barriers; - Strong verbal and written skills suitable for formal and informal presentations, coaching, and
resume development; - Proven ability providing individuals with coaching and support;
- Evidenced ability to make independent judgment calls with respect to job matching and individual
clients; - Experience starting up a new process, program or procedure;
- Demonstrable political sensibilities and an ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders;
- Experience reporting, tracking and documenting employment outcomes;
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel or similar;
- An awareness of New Rochelle is strongly preferred but not required;
- Bilingual (Spanish) helpful but not required.
