What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Host position at Andros Taverna?
OB TITLE: LEAD HOST
STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
DEPARTMENT: FRONT OF HOUSE
SUPERVISOR: GENERAL MANAGER / FLOOR MANAGER
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our Lead Host acts as the face of Asador Bastian and leads operations at the front door. They must have strong communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to problem solve in the moment; all while displaying an understanding of genuine hospitality. They are tasked with upholding the policies and procedures in place in addition to overseeing training of the host team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to the following):
- Review guest book daily, noting VIPs and making arrangements for any special requests
- Give manager a run down of the night 15 minutes before pre shift begins
- Assign tasks to the host team before service begins (i.e. who seats, who answers phones, etc.)
- When a Host position/responsibility is vacant during a shift, fill the role
- During service:
- Facilitate the flow of guest(s), ensuring great first and last impressions from host team
- Resolve any issues relating to incoming reservations and overbookings
- Take the lead in guest recovery as it pertains to late reservations, long wait times and inability to accommodate guest requests (default to management when needed)
- Lead the communication with serving staff and MODs
- After service:
- Review upcoming reservations for the next day(s)
- Adjust floor plan and manage plotting of large parties
- Open/adjust reservation times to allow for maximum number of guests to be seated throughout the night
- Send out Nightly Email to FOH management, making note of employee concerns, guest issues/recovery and future cover counts
- If closing the restaurant:
- Ensure all windows and doors are properly locked and secured
- Ensure candles are set to charge overnight
- Plug in iPad(s) to charge overnight
- Check in with closing manager or chef before leaving building
