Registered Nurse

Essential Job Functions

• Carries out physician and nursing orders
• Coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
• Assists in setting up workspace, managing inventory of supplies, medication, and equipment on site to maintain availability of stock in pre- procedure and post-procedure areas and exam rooms
• Responsible for abstracting clinical information from the medical record, transcribing findings to the abstraction tool and facilitating compliance by sharing data with assigned leadership
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete data and providing analysis through current and/or retrospective quality project involvement
• Performs all other duties as assigned
• Pre-procedure, Intra-procedure and post procedure:
  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies
  • Ensures all pre-procedure documentation is signed, dated, and timed prior to procedure
  • Assesses and documents the patient’s physical and emotional status as required
  • Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to procedure and response to sedation administered
  • Monitor’s patient and informs provider of patient status changes/complications in a timely manner
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity.
  • Uses equipment accurately
  • Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of care
  • Performs thorough pre-procedure or post-procedure patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient

Preferred Education and Experience

• Valid RN license in the state of Michigan

• Minimum 2 years of experience in PACU, Operating Room, Emergency Department or sedation

• Current certification in BLS, ACLS

• Annual Mandatory In-Services:
  • Infection control
  • Body mechanics / Workplace violence
  • Safety
  • Fire drills, CPR and any other emergency drills
• Continuing Education Participation Requirements:
  • Maintain certification in BLS, ACLS
  • Attends all mandatory staff meetings

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand or sit for 8 hours in a shift
• Ability to push, pull or lift, up to 60 pounds

Work Environment: Possible exposure to body fluids, including blood, potential exposure to infectious materials, contagious diseases and/or hazardous materials.
