Position Summary:
Assist the Adoption team, to operate as ‘cashier’, using retail best practices in the areas of cash and credit card execution, customer service,
Principal Duties:
- Ensure “all-star” customer service for adopters and donors. Encourage donations and extend ARF’s gratitude to donors and customers alike.
- Coordinate with Adoptions to ensure boutique protocols align with their practices and Adoption personnel are aware of boutique procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment at the checkout stand.
- Foster a collaborative environment for volunteers to ARF treating them with respect.
- Be knowledgeable/familiar with the point of sale and cash register system, ensuring the accuracy of monetary exchanges with customers for cash and credit/debit card transactions.
- Promote/communicate with customers additional retail items for newly adopted canines, such as no-pull harnesses, collars, personalized ID tags, toys (such as Kongs and puzzle toys), and for newly adopted felines, such as wand toys, scratching posts, and weekly sales specials, etc.
- Report customer feedback to Adoption Supervisor to increase understanding of market needs and opportunities to improve store operations.
- Always promote a humane and caring attitude toward all animals.
- Always treat people and animals respectfully, contribute to effective teamwork, promote staff cooperation, and foster public relations beneficial to ARF.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information.
- Comply with all Federal, State, and local safety regulations and laws, as well as ARF policies and guidelines. Follow established procedures governing safe work practices; and perform duties in a manner that assures the safety of oneself and others.
- Perform duties in a manner that encourages the attainment of goals, contributions, and business for ARF and its programs.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and cooperation with all staff & volunteers.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of feline/canine care and handling techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Push/pull moderately heavy objects up to 25 pounds.
- Regularly handle cash and coins
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances
- Kneel, bend, stoop, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp and turn objects, and stand and/or walk frequently and repetitively throughout each shift.
- Flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist.
- Sit/stand for long and short periods of time using a computer and/or cash register.
Educational Requirements:
Previous retail cash handling experience preferred.
Experience, Abilities, And Qualities Required:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Point of Sale System, as well as retail and customer service techniques.
- Good organization and planning skills.
- Effective interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Comfortable and skilled in working with culturally diverse staff, volunteers, donors, and customers.
- Effective communication skills to ensure effective store operations and professional customer service.
- Pre-employment background check screening required.
Hours: Part-time: This position averages 20 (twenty) hours per week, as needed, including weekdays and weekend shifts.
Salary : $20 - $21
