Delivery Driver
Purpose Statement
To provide, in a safe manner, timely delivery and pick up services to the District.
Job Title: Delivery Driver
Hourly Wage: $16.00/full time
Reports To: Operations and Maintenance Supervisor &/or Print Shop Supervisor
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED
- Must possess [and maintain] a valid Class C Non-Commercial Driver's License.
- Obtain a certified copy of your own driving record on our myMVD website and ATTACH the driving record to your application materials. A certified driving record is your official driving record certified by the Iowa DOT and can be used for official or legal purposes. The fee is $5.50 plus a $3 charge which includes a $1.50 online service fee and $1.50 credit card processing fee.
- Qualify for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier. No major accidents or violations within the past 5 years
- One year of successful driving experience operating light or medium duty truck safely.
- Knowledge of proper methods for lifting and doing moderately heavy manual work.
- Ability to exert 75 to 100 pounds of force frequently, to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Able to complete and maintain district forklift certification.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively work under a structured schedule without close supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
- Knowledge of routine delivery practices.
- Basic math and English usage and literacy.
- Learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the work place.
- Efficiently execute a regular delivery route.
- Basic computer skills required for maintaining appropriate records, reading Email, using MS Office programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Load, secure, unload and deliver finished work, equipment, maintenance and custodial supplies; and to pick up work including, but not limited to district print shop, intra-district mail, US Postal mail, Business Office, curriculum books and kits, and other items as may be assigned.
- Perform daily safety inspection of vehicle and operate vehicle to and from school sites, public offices and vendor locations, obeying traffic laws and observing defensive driving practices; wash and fuel vehicles.
- Establish and follow routes and maps to various locations.
- Fill warehouse stock requisitions and complete related forms.
- Assists in physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.
- Assists other personnel as may be assigned for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (Maintenance and Print Shop).
- Sort US and intra-school mail.
- Make emergency or non-routine deliveries when necessary.
- Utilize proper methods for security of district property, including vehicles and contents.
- Serve as backup operator for mailing machine and scale.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Maintains and updates maintenance log for delivery vehicle (e.g. checking fluid levels, fueling, cleaning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of vehicle.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate variety of trade tools.
- Follows established safety procedures and points out safety improvements that need to be made. Does not attempt to operate equipment or perform dangerous tasks for which training has not been received.
- Performs such other duties as may from time-to-time be assigned by the Supervisor or designee.
Working Environment
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. Successful candidate is subject to post-offer pre-employment physical.
