Requirements:
- High School Senior, High School Graduate or equivalent & Valid Driver's License
- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Maximum Age: 21 years old
Part-time position of Sheriffs Cadet with the Anne Arundel County Sheriffs Office. Applicants must be able to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
Employment expires when Cadet reaches the age of 21, if not processing to enter a bonafide law enforcement academy in Maryland.
The Anne Arundel County Sheriffs Office Cadet Program is for people interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. This contractual position will afford Cadet's the opportunity to be exposed to all aspects of policing, and they will receive training in specific areas of law enforcement. While it is not a requirement, all Cadets are encouraged to pursue a college, education in the criminal justice field while they participate in the program.
Applicants must pass a full background check, mimicking that of sworn personnel. Background includes: full criminal history check, drivers history check, credit reporting check, fingerprinting, CDS test, and meeting with all references.
Complete and submit either the employment application (PDF} or the online employment application form. The Sheriffs Cadet uniforms will be required and worn whenever the Sheriffs Cadet is performing their duties in the office.

The Sheriff's Office reserves the right to refuse any request to participate in this program. Reasons for possible refusal into the program include, but are not limited to: failure to meet application deadline, derogatory information learned from background check, staffing shortages of the Sheriffs Office, and availability of Cadet openings.
