Description/Job Summary

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The incumbent is responsible for establishing new accounts, serving deposit account related needs, assisting customers in day to day transactions, maintaining a cash drawer, opening/closing bank as necessary, and answering telephone in a courteous manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide excellent customer service at all times, actively looking for ways to strengthen customer relationships by cross selling bank products and services.
  • Greet customers as they enter the bank and direct to the appropriate employee.
  • Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
  • Quickly answer telephone calls in a courteous manner.
  • Regularly check and take appropriate action on bank e-mail.
  • Resolve problems or discrepancies concerning customers' accounts.
  • Open and close checking and savings accounts as necessary.
  • Open and close CDs, IRAs, and HSAs as necessary.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of exceptions related to new account creation or modification.
  • Complete forms and assist with all products related to deposit accounts.
  • Complete any transaction related to checking accounts, savings accounts, CDs, IRAs, and HSAs including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, money orders, cashier's checks, gift cards, cash advances, and retirement distributions.
  • Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer and vault cash limits are not exceeded.


  • Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements; complete Hold Notices.


  • Accept loan payments.


  • Originate wires.
  • Process and appropriately log night and mail deposits.
  • Scan, correct, and balance all paper transaction items through the Bank's source capture optimization program and submit for processing through the federal banking system.
  • Balance and maintain cash drawer, vault, and ATM if applicable.
  • Perform branch balancing duties.
  • Stock desk/teller supplies.
  • Comply with all department and company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all bank policies and procedures, with regulatory knowledge of deposit-related compliance topics.
  • Assist with office functions as needed.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures as assigned.


  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring all questionable cases to supervisor.

Limited responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.
