Preferred Locations: Indianapolis, IN, St. Louis, MO; Atlanta, GA; Mason, OH; Chicago, IL; Virginia Beach, VA; or Richmond, VA. The Global Health & Safety Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and performance improvement of all Health and safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee the organization's health and safety program on a global scale, and will increase profitability through a reduction of loss exposures, increase employee engagement and awareness, and compliance with legal obligations.
- Ensures appropriate staffing and capabilities are available based on aspects, risk, and performance.
- Creates and implements an effective program management system(s).
- Develop and Implements and execute program(s) processes and standards to support company strategies including interpretation and application of broad policy guidelines.
- Influence/lead the organization with a strategic forward-thinking mindset on issues and trends.
- Ensure safety is a core value and is properly embraced and led by our leaders.
- Provides technical guidance and support to the organization and operational teams.
- Provides periodic updates and metrics on health and safety performance, trends, and initiatives to senior leaders, advising on issues related to regulatory compliance.
- Provide guidance on common inquiries or complaints, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Remains current on external trends, practices, and legal issues.
- Partner with enterprise risk management for effective auditing program.
- Models and reinforces safety as a top priority of the organization, as well as holds a continuous improvement mindset.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field of study and a minimum of 10 years experience developing and implementing occupational health and safety programs; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing and implementing global Occupational Health and Safety experience strongly preferred.
- Professional certification in relevant occupation health and safety strongly preferred.
