Design Engineering works within the Design org to accelerate the pace, quality and innovation of our shipped user experience. We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Engineer to join our team and help build outstanding experiences that rapidly go from idea to fully scaled deployment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of user-centric design, strong front-end development skills, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI.
Responsibilities:
- Be part of the Product Design organization, supporting their work on feature development on Claude.ai
- Write front-end production code for critical features on our roadmap, with a focus on the front-of-the-frontend (CSS, presentational JavaScript)
- Create and maintain processes that help us ship quickly, and with an outstanding quality bar
- Work closely with Product Designers to refine early interface ideas, using code prototypes to rapidly validate, iterate, and (where necessary) innovate
- Contribute to the development of prototyping tools and workflows for non-coding teammates
- Contribute to Design Systems efforts, and integrate it into the front-end development process
You may be a good fit if you have:
- 7 years of experience in a design engineering, front-end development, UI Engineering, or similar role
- Strong skills in CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React)
- An eye for visual and interaction details, and good judgment about what makes for great user experience
- A portfolio showcasing innovative interaction designs and high-quality front-end implementations
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with design systems, accessibility standards and performant front-ends
