Lab Technician

Job Summary

The Lab Technician is responsible for quality verification testing and in-process testing consistent with documenting work instructions and procedures. These
quality verification results are reported directly to the customers on Certificates of Analysis. These results are used to make final product conformity decisions and the in-process results directly in managing the maleic anhydride process.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform necessary quality assurance practices consistently with written work instructions and procedures, includes maintaining the appropriate supporting documentation and the use of SPC charting
• Perform necessary calculations to complete laboratory tests along with maintaining calculations and supporting documentation in a laboratory notebook.
• Order necessary reagents, analytical equipment, and glassware needed to run the required tests. Maintain the appropriate documentation demonstrating traceability to known and recognized standards (for mentioned materials that are standard)
• May be required to issue Certificates of Analysis (COA) to customer and will be responsible for verifying that customer specifications are met prior to the release of COA
• Conducts final inspection of the retain sample prior to the release of each shipment
• Oversee management of the customer retain sample program including the final disposal of the sample when the retention time has been met
• Responsible for taking the appropriate corrective action when observing equipment to be out of calibration and documenting the corrective action taken consistent with written procedures
• Perform preventive maintenance consistent with written work instructions and procedures
• Retain all quality records as called for in the written procedures
• RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery) job duties: (a) Analyze plant products and wastes. (b) Package, mark, and label sample sized quantities of plant products and wastes as directed by the Accounting Analyst. (c) Clean up small spills in their work area
• Perform special laboratory studies and projects at the direction of the management staff
• Will be assigned duties not related to lab activities such as STORM and catalyst change data entry, steam trap surveys, and rescue team membership (as time permits)

Job Qualifications

• Bachelors in Chemistry, or in a similar field with a heavy emphasis on chemistry
