What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Member Exp/Outreach position at AOPA?
Primary Responsibilities:
- Grow the AOPA membership base by developing and managing AOPA’s member acquisition, member retention, and outreach and events strategy.
- Understand the needs and desires of general aviation pilots in order to inform strategic decisions relating to member experience and outreach.
- Proactively work with aviation and non-aviation partners to aggressively develop new products and benefits that general aviation pilots find valuable.
- Effectively articulate ideas and build cases for growth and change in member experience and outreach and generate organization-wide support for new ideas and processes that require collaboration and teamwork.
- Develop and oversee a strategic growth initiative/plan for AOPA events that creates a higher quality experience for members and vendors, produces additional revenue opportunities for AOPA, and attracts non-member general aviation pilots.
- Determine yearly fiscal requirements and prepare annual budgetary recommendations. Manage all revenues and expenses to budget, realigning priorities when necessary to maintain EBITDA expectations.
- Manage and further develop the team to grow their capabilities as innovative marketers.
Desired Education, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated success in growing membership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years of related experience, including supervisory/management experience.
- Demonstrates tenacity and willingness to autonomously pioneer where the business can improve.
- Able to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions that inform decision making and provides insight for leadership decisions.
- Ability to focus on key priorities and effectively drive change and improvement on the team.
- Effectively collaborates with other teams, while driving accountability and quality.
- Desire to learn to fly or interest/knowledge in aviation a plus.
- Requires 10-20% travel depending on season and event schedule.
