Medical Coder (Remote or on Site)

Seeking a Remote or On-Site Certified Coder

This position is intended for someone with at least 2 years of experience and certification from a society such as AAPC.

Hours are 8 to 5, Monday thru Friday (the work schedule can be flexible depending on full time, part-time or PRN status)

Functions and Responsibilities:

Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and HIM policies regarding diagnosis and procedure code assignment and abstraction

- Review clinical documentation complete accurate code selection for inpatient and outpatient medical records according to the appropriate classification system.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate assignment of ICD, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers for the purposes of billing, internal and external reporting, research, and compliance with regulatory and payer guidelines.
- Monitor turnaround time and productivity, follow up as warranted and appropriate, including identification and resolution of problems.
- Provide timely feedback on coding and documentation to team leadership, assist in coding education, and design and maintenance of workflow and coding tools.

-Maintain communication with management and providers to ensure timely notification of identified documentation issues.

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One of the following is required: CCS, CCA, RHIA, RHIT, or CIC AHIMA/AAPC.

-Two years of coding experience preferred, use of encoder (3M preferred) use of an EMR (EPIC preferred) and extensive knowledge of medical terminology is required.

Possess basic knowledge of revenue cycle

Standard Office Skills:
- Top-notch telephone and communication skills required.
- Ability to work well with a team.
- Must be well organized.

-Must be able to meet deadlines

-Experience with Excel and Word preferred.

Salary based on experience.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time
Part-time hours: 40 per week

Pay: $41,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
