Join us and help build Machine Learning experimentation platform that enables the next generation of intelligent experiences in Apple’s products and services. Work with some of the best ML and distributed system engineers to take MLOps at Apple to the next level. We are looking for an engineering manager in platform engineering who is experienced in leading teams and building scalable cloud platform and services. The ideal candidate has solid backend and cloud infrastructure domain knowledge, passion in designing and developing highly scalable and available systems, and a track record of managing and mentoring other engineers. You will lead a team of world-class software engineers and play a crucial role building and evolving our experimentation platform.
Key Qualifications
- 3 years of as tech lead or engineering manager
- 8 years of experience developing and maintaining data intensive systems
- Proven track record of delivering high impact projects through partnership across organization boundaries with product, design and infrastructure teams
- Experience of mentoring and coaching software engineers
- Deep knowledge in backend (GraphQL, SQL/NoSQL databases, ElasticSearch, Kafka etc) and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, K8s etc) technologies
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate about technical and architectural problems and work with key partners to iteratively solve the problems
Description
Our group is part of Apple’s internal ML platform that enables ML teams to manage their ML project life cycle - data engineering, labeling, training, online and offline evaluation, experimentation and much more. You will help lead a platform team to build highly scalable infrastructure and services to expose those features to various Apple product and service teams. Within our group, you and your team will be collaborating closely with design, infrastructure, ML engineering and project management teams to brainstorm, prototype and bring features into production. You and your team will take full ownership of critical services and infrastructure of the platform. This position maybe based in either Cupertino or Seattle.
Education & Experience
Bachelors in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience

- Experience in machine learning is plus but not required
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $155,500 and $269,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
