Leading a team of software engineers, the Engineering Manager will help build strategic components of the Apple Pay stack, enabling first to market features that differentiate our products.
Key Qualifications
- At least 3 years engineering management experience
- Experience leading engineering projects from inception to shipped software
- Consistent track record of hiring, and developing great engineers
- Significant experience (5 years) designing, implementing & supporting highly scalable systems and services in Java or other JVM-based languages
- Ability to communicate thoughtfully, collaborate and build long-term relationships across the organization
Description
We are looking for a manager with a strong foundation in engineering and financial industry experience. In this role, you will lead the development of key distributed systems in the Apple Pay stack. You will have a proven ability to solve problems, and an interest in continuous learning and digging deep into the domain when necessary. Job functions include: - Day to day management of a growing team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management - Champion for quality and best engineering practices to ensure scalable and resilient distributed systems - Cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle - Participating in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
Education & Experience
BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field, equivalent work experience will be considered
Additional Requirements
- Any of the following is an advantage:
- Practical experience with CockroachDB, Cassandra, FoundationDB, DynamoDB
- Public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc)
- Deployment experience using Docker and Kubernetes
- Relational data modeling & practical experience with RDBMS (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL etc)
- Practical experience with Apache Kafka
- Fintech experience Payments experience
- Working knowledge of governance/security concepts and technologies including encryption, anonymization, PCI, PII, GDPR, etc.
