Summary
Minimum Requirements
A four year Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other job related field from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years experience in nuclear power generation (three years experience must be in scheduling, work management/control and/or project management). In lieu of a bachelor's degree, Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license plus eight (8) years experience in nuclear power generation or 12 years experience in nuclear power generation.
Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications: Nuclear Operations Management Certification or above. Knowledge of integrated plant systems. Knowledge and experience in station work management and scheduling processes. Knowledge of shutdown safety and risk assessment. Knowledge of INPO AP-928. Knowledge of Project View/Primavera (P6).
Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
1) Manages the overall implementation and execution of outage and forced outage work activities without compromise to safety for a specific unit. Manages site personnel inside and outside of span of control to properly identify, plan, coordinate, and schedule outage work activities. Responsible for controlling work scope in order to thoroughly develop work plans and ensure support resources and work documents are properly prepared.
2) Ensures a schedule analysis is performed to optimize work task sequences, logic ties, durations and resource assignments to maximize workforce efficiencies and minimize outages by leading challenge meetings and the application of the Outage Planning Milestone process. Manages the development of schedules, where multiple work activities are integrated and resource loaded to optimize the efficiency of work execution and the plant workforce. Develops an integrated work schedule for outage work activities that maximizes workforce efficiencies and minimizes plant/system outages.
3) Partners with Operations and Probable Risk Assessment (PRA) groups to develop the Shutdown Risk Assessment which ensures an accurate shutdown safety and risk assessment is performed for all planned and scheduled work activities to preserve nuclear safety.
4) Develops corrective action plans and appoints recovery teams to resolve unexpected problems that impede successful implementation of the scheduled work to avoid unplanned delays in power generation.
5) Facilitates Outage planning milestone implementation to ensure due dates are met for both the opening and closing of milestones. Maintains the Outage Planning Milestone database.
6) Manages all aspects of the Outage Scope Change Request process to ensure requests are reviewed, approved and incorporated into the outage schedule. Provides recommendations on the disposition of scope changes to the Scope Change Review Board.
7) Chairs horizontal, vertical and challenge meetings. Determines appropriate scope and content.
8) Partners with stakeholders to ensure proper representation. Manages, tracks and closes associated actions.
9) Manages all aspects of outage schedule development including scoping, code structure, work windows, resource allocations. Identifies potential issues and partners with owners to resolve.
10)Identifies opportunities to improve processes.
