What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Consultant position at ARA Brand?
ARA is seeking a full-time senior consultant. This position requires an individual with knowledge and expertise to perform the following:
- Develop and apply innovative data fusion, spatio-temporal data mining and analysis, and transportation modeling techniques on regional and project-specific marine transportation systems.
- Develop machine learning approaches to predictive modeling of highly complex natural systems, particularly riverine and coastal sediment transport processes.
- Combine and synthesize disparate data sets for road, rail, and maritime modes of transportation to enable multimodal freight network analysis, modeling, performance monitoring, and scenario evaluations.
- Document research objectives, methodologies, data sources, and significant findings in technical reports, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journal publications. Participate in technical conferences and professional societies, including technical presentations and/or associated publications. Short-term travel to support customer needs throughout the U.S. and internationally.
- Manage project resources to perform tasks according to plan. Serve as the company’s primary liaison with the client.
Position Requirements:
- M.S. in Transportation Engineering, or Civil Engineering with focus on transportation planning.
- 8 years of engineering experience in the field of multimodal transportation and analysis, to include:
- At least 4 years of experience in multimodal freight data fusion, analysis, and commodity-based modeling for transportation planning.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python programming, data mining, analysis via GIS, SQL, optimization and machine learning modeling applied to freight transportation research, supporting strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
