GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Physical therapists use exercises, massage, functional movement training and other techniques to help the residents’ injuries and illness, recover movement, reduce pain, get stronger and mover flexible and perform day to day tasks.
Responsible for planning and administering physical therapy treatment plans designed to alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disabilities, and promote overall fitness and health of residents.
- Provides skilled physical therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician order and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results of residents.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan, instructing residents, recommending and / or providing assistive equipment.
- Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding resident limitations / interventions, treatments, responses and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries.
- Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner. Supervises and directs Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides in direct resident care and related activities as requested.
- Complies with the codes and regulations.
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent / emergent situations per protocols. Maintain work area, exam rooms and supplies.
- Follows all policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and physicians, staff and management.
- Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Current State Physical Therapist license.
- CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
- At least one (1) year in long-term care facility preferred.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
