Sustainability Coordinator

Job Description

The Marketing Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for activities that will center around promoting JMU Dining?s Sustainability Program through awareness, education, events, and resource planning. Serve as the department liaison to the campus community for sustainability-related programs, projects, policies, challenges, ideas, and issues. Engage managers to develop, implement and manage environmental solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and facilitation of sustainability marketing content, workshops, meetings, or conferences with a high impact on the program and/or participation
• Participate in regular meetings with sustainability departments, student groups, and organizations to collaborate on initiatives to ensure our environmental goals and projects align
• Assist with local food purchasing program
• As an integral part of the marketing department, tasks will also include overall dining initiatives, comprised of guest services, community outreach, and meal plan sales
• Greet and interact with customers, visitors, and employees in a professional and courteous manner
• Demonstrate analytical skills to effectively assess data and conduct research

Qualifications

• Bachelor?s Degree preferred, in environmental science, marketing or another related field
• 1-2 years of diverse experience working in marketing or environmental field is preferred
• This position is focused on sustainability, but the ideal candidate will understand, and be inspired by, its marketing-adjacent duties and responsibilities
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including but not limited to: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of up to 25 lbs.
• Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a fast-paced working environment
  
  

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or the usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
