What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager (1) position at Arby's?

The General Manager will oversee all facets of operation for one Arby’s restaurant, including customer satisfaction, operations, sales, profits and staff development. The General Manager will be accountable for the attainment of agreed-upon goals and profits working within the framework of the corporate philosophy, policies and objectives.


Position Responsibilities

The General Manager is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant and will execute the following duties:

  • Manage the day to day activities of the Restaurant to meet company standards for food quality, food safety and cleanliness.
  • Maximize restaurant profitability by controlling costs, inventory counts, and expenses to meet or exceed budget.
  • Monitor and oversee staff, timekeeping and payroll.
  • Forecast sales and labor, manage systems to monitor for optimal service and profit
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding food quality and/or service.
  • Maintain facilities to ensure a clean and inviting store. 
  • Recruit, hire, and oversee training and development of crew members and Management.
  • Guide, coach, direct, train and develop all restaurant employees.
  • Ensure proper cash handling and deposit procedures are followed.
  • Staff and schedule appropriately to control labor costs.
  • Must have financial literacy to understand and learn from financial reporting.
  • Conduct Manager or store meetings to communicate company and store goals.
  • Organize, plan and prioritize tasks.
  • ther duties as assigned.


Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of management and/or leadership experience required (service industry preferred).
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Scheduled for ServSafe Class at first opportunity and must be certified within the 1st year.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate exceptional training, coaching and developmental skills with the ability to develop strong leaders
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced restaurant through organization and coordination of schedules, supervision and coaching of employees, problem-solving, maintaining store cleanliness, execution of sales and marketing initiatives, training employees and providing exceptional customer service.


Employment Factors & Physical Activity

  • Hours: 50-hour work week (approx. hours are not guaranteed and may vary).
  • Ability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must provide proof upon hire of legal status to work in the United States.
  • Standing/Walking: 100%
  • Ability to safely bend, reach, carry, and stoop
  • Ability to safely lift 30-50 lbs.
