POSITION SUMMARY
The Lab Quality Coordinator works as part of the health care team to improve the quality, safety, accuracy and efficiency of health care services under the direction of the Laboratory Director. As the Lab Quality Coordinator, this position is responsible for inspecting each clinic laboratory for quality and compliance in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, CDC, TJC and other applicable standards and providing laboratory competency training or remedial training as needed, and completing the required competency documentation. This person is also responsible for troubleshooting laboratory equipment and/or testing issues, and providing support where needed, including the delivery of supplies in extenuating circumstances. The Lab Quality Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that proper Quality Control and Quality Assurance are maintained in each clinic laboratory.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Inspects clinics on a scheduled basis for compliance in areas of safety, security, and lab quality; reports areas of insufficient compliance to the Laboratory Director, and other appropriate managers.
- Utilizes professional judgment to assess the need for improvements or additional staff education and provides remedial or clinic laboratory education as needed.
- Teaches lab orientation classes, drug screen classes, and phlebotomy classes as needed.
- Maintains lab competency and lab inspection spreadsheets.
- Assists Laboratory Director with development or revision of laboratory policy and procedures as needed.
- Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with ARcare policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: Preferred minimum of 5 years clinical laboratory, preferably in a clinic setting. QC reviews, POC instruments, phlebotomy skills, and drug screen collection experience desired. Teaching experience is a plus.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel; and customized software. Ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies as the organization changes.
Certificates & Licenses: Completion of an approved program of training for Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist. ASCP certification preferred.
Other Requirements: The ability to relate with effectiveness to the public, the patient, and the health care providers of the health center; The ability to effectively perform several duties of the department and the ability to organize and achieve goals in a busy setting as well as effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Willingness to maintain lab certifications and attend continuing education classes as needed.
