POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician works under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge. Pharmacy Technicians prepare and compound medications using sterile technique and provide other health care products under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Compound intravenous medications according to USP 797 standards.
- Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
- Clean, and help maintain, equipment and work areas, and sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
- Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data into computer.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
- Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.
- Inspects medical areas and maintains storage standards set by health regulation agencies.
- Answers telephone for patient call-ins and questions.
- Processed returns to pharmaceutical companies as needed.
- Completes daily reports as required by policy.
- Knowledge and adherence to Safety and Infection Control requirements.
- Direct customer service and problem resolution.
