Overview
The accountant will manage financial transactions and prepare monthly financial statements.
Reports to: Business Manager Type: Full Time (30-40 hrs./week)
Key Duties
- Monthly accounting responsibilities (20%)
- Create journal entries to record accruals and monthly activity
- Record ACH activity for church and school
- Reconcile church and school bank and investment accounts and submit for approval
- Print ParishSoft reports for church and school
- Weekly payment processing (20%)
- Review, validate and enter check requests into ParishSoft Accounting System. After Business Manager approval, create checks and ACH for pastor’s signature. After approval, process payments.
- Vendor file maintenance (10%)
- Maintain files for vendor contracts, insurance documents, hold harmless forms, and W-9 information
- Prepares 1099 forms at year end
- Employee file maintenance (5%)
- With assistance from volunteer, ensure employee files contain all required paperwork
- Payroll (20%)
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll for Church and School
- Human Resources (15%)
- Manage family leave administration for employees
- Onboard new employees in Paycom payroll system
- Ensure data in Paycom is consistent with employee benefit choices
- Reconcile monthly benefit statements
- Maintain accurate Paycom records by processing Personnel Action Forms for changes of status
Qualifications
Decision making authority: Makes decisions regarding methods to enhance processes
Primary interactions: Business Manager, vendors, church and school employees.
Job knowledge: Proficiency in accounting and financial processes
Supervisory responsibilities: Does not directly supervise paid staff
Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related experience
Salary : $42,000 - $55,000
