Title: Christian Service Associate
Job Status: Part time (up to 12 hours per week)
Reports to: Christian Service Coordinator
SUMMERY:
Christian Service at St. Patrick is rooted in the love of God and service to our neighbors guided by Unleash the Gospel. The Christian Service Associate works alongside the Christian Service Coordinator to advance the vision of Catholic Social Teaching in the parish, school and local community. The Christian Service Associate will be a witness with words and actions to the power of God through spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Coordinate the Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion schedules to the area nursing facilities, Huron Valley Hospital and Homebound parishioners.
- Maintain contact with the medical facilities that St. Patrick serves.
- Coordinate the Meals on Wheels Monthly schedules.
- Create a monthly News Letter for Homebound Ministry and Meals on Wheels Volunteers.
- Order seasonal flowers and coordinate delivery to the nursing facilities that St. Patrick serves.
- Assist with calls for emergency financial help to pay rent, utilities, etc. Assess the need and working with the Coordinator discern how to best help the individual in need, providing additional resources as needed.
- Help with annual projects such as the Back to School Collection, Advent and Lenten Giving Trees, Mercy in Action Day, Right to Life events and many other projects throughout the year.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working or volunteering in social ministry with the vulnerable and people experiencing hardship.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Able to work with others and take direction.
- Current Completion of Safe Environment Training (Protecting God’s Children) and a current background check.
- Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion certification or willingness to complete certification.
Some evening and weekend work hours for scheduled events.
