I. POSITION PURPOSE
Provides music for parish liturgies and other designated celebrations.
Collaborates with the pastoral leader to provide quality liturgical celebrations and experiences for members of the parish.
Ii. Music Director Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Pastor, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
Assures that appropriate and quality music is provided for parish liturgies. Selects music, recruits and schedules musicians for all weekend liturgies and any other major parish liturgical celebrations as needed.
Coordinates the development and implementation of a music program for the parish. Implements the music program. makes music selections, and schedules and oversees musicians in collaboration with the pastoral leader, presider, and other staff as appropriate.
Directs the choir(s) of the parish. Recruits, trains, and supports parish ministers of music, including the Cantor/leaders of song, and choral groups. Schedules practices and assures that accompanists and music are available.
Schedules all musicians, including Cantor and Accompanist, for all liturgical celebrations.
Collaborate with Multi-Culture Music Ministry to support bilingual liturgies as well as a unified Music Ministry.
Actively serve as staff member on the Liturgy Committee. Provides agenda items to the Committee Chairperson, attend meetings and completes work as requested by the Committee and approved by the Pastor.
Develops and maintains resource list for accompanists, cantors, and other musicians available to perform at these liturgical celebrations.
Prepares and administers the Music budget as delegated by the pastoral leader. Coordinate with Pastoral Leader/ Administrator with purchasing music resources and maintaining an up-to-date the music library of resources.
Ensures appropriate copyright permissions, use fees and licenses have been obtained for all material used in the music program.
Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for the ministry. This is accomplished by reading appropriate materials and attending workshops and conventions.
Assist in other duties as required
Cantor
Assigns a Cantor(s) is scheduled for weekend liturgies
Assigns a Cantor for funerals, weddings, and other special liturgical celebrations, as needed or requested.
Fees for funerals, weddings, and other special liturgical celebrations will be paid directly to the Church and paid to the employee through payroll. If Cantor/ Accompanist is not an employee, a check for the stipend will be paid after the event and mailed to the cantor or accompanist.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
