What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Learning Center for Students with Learning Differences position at Archdiocese of Washington?
St. Vincent Pallotti is a coeducational, college preparatory school of 420 students with a diverse student body, located in the historical district of Laurel, MD. In 2021, Pallotti celebrated its 100th anniversary of providing Catholic education to Laurel and the surrounding regions. Currently, Pallotti seeks a full time Director for the Stephen J. Edmonds Learning Center to begin in late August 2022. The Stephen J. Edmonds Learning Center is a comprehensive program designed for students diagnosed with mild learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and/or physical disabilities who receive accommodations as they prepare for college.
The Center aids in the development of learning strategies and promotes skills in test-taking, memorization, reading, note taking, organization and time management on an individual basis and as needed. Director Responsibilities: Reading and interpreting educational evaluations.Develop accommodation plans based on results and recommendations offered in the students psycho-educational evaluations.Coordinate with teachers to ensure the implementation of classroom accommodations. Support Learning Center students with developing study and test taking skills.Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring in core subject areas as needed.Proctor and assist in testing conditions for regularly scheduled quizzes/tests, midterm/final exams, and appropriate standardized assessments to foster maximum concentration and success for Learning Center students.Apply for accommodations through the College Board and/or the ACT.Coordinate with the Admissions Department to interview and determine the eligibility of potential future Learning Center students.Maintain effective communication with parents through phone, e-mail, or in-person conferences.Serve as a resource to students, teachers, and parents regarding learning styles, learning differences, study skills, and cognitive development.Supervise and direct an Assistant Learning Specialist.Develop a yearly Learning Center budget.Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will possess: Masters Degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or Learning Disabilities.Experience in a private school setting preferred.Knowledge of the college admissions process and standardized testing associated. Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and parents.A commitment to equity and inclusion and have experience working with a diverse student population.Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth and high energy level.This is a full-time, 10 month position, beginning in late August for the 2022-2023 school year.Compensation is commensurate with experience.Please submit a cover letter along with your resume.
