What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Estimator position at Arconic?
Kawneer North America offers architectural aluminum building products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Together, we provide customers with a comprehensive product portfolio that includes entrances, framing systems, windows and curtain wall systems.
The Estimator is responsible for ensuring that incoming customer requests for pricing are accurately reviewed and entered into the system
Key Focus Areas:
- Prepare bid proposals from customer request or architectural plans.
- Generate material take off, as required.
- Evaluate and confirm proposal meets all project criteria including any applicable or specification requirements.
- Generate pricing for add-ons (new dies, configurations, curves for all non-standard application needs).
- Evaluate and offer strategic alternate pricing, as required for consideration.
- Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing for material issues outside of Softech.
- Maintain proficiency in all operating systems (Softech etc.) and tools.
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education:
- Strong written / verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to navigate architectural plans and specifications to determine what Kawneer materials are required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment in a professional office setting.
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Excel. KaluCAD & JD Edwards a plus
- Ability to work 9-hour days on a regular basis throughout the year
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Basic Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
- 2 years of experience in an estimating or technical services related role.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in the commercial construction industry.
