What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Fitter position at Arcosa Brand?
Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., is searching for an Entry Fitter that will be based in our Caruthersville, MO plant. In this role, you will drive sustainable continuous improvements across the Marine Business Unit, delivering breakthrough results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and cost, while building cultural change throughout the organization.
Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group is comprised of Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.
What you’ll do:
- Provide skilled assistance in assigned area.
- Tack welding (FCAW)
- Measure to specifications
- Read blueprints or other specifications.
- Train for additional fitter / fabrication skills
- Assist skilled workers involved in fabricating, welding, assembling, installing, and processing by a variety of functions, such as: sorting and counting, feeding, and unloading parts, sweeping, cleaning, rough painting, and other manual labor tasks as needed.
- May perform general, manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
- Minimum of 6 month of relevant experience.
- Experience in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Requires the ability to work with a tape measure and determine center point.
- Able to perform basic math.
- Ability to layout/align metal materials.
- Desire and willingness to learn to become a Fitter.
- Desire to learn how to read and interpret blueprints.
- Able to pass a tack welding assessment.
- Able to work effectively in a hot or cold environment while wearing the required PPE.
- May require working above ground (15 ft or more)
- Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects, comfortable with heights.
- May require working in narrow or confined workspaces for extended periods of time.
- May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time.
