What You’ll do:
- Manage NDT technicians completing the following evaluation methods preferred: Straight Beam Lamination and Angle Beam scanning, Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing, and Magnetic Particle Testing
- Continue to develop, execute, and successfully maintain the plant’s quality system and all applicable quality certifications
- Work with fellow department staff members (Operations, Maintenance, HR, Materials, Safety, etc.) to ensure compliance with procedures and audit established procedures internally and externally
- Lead, train, coach, and develop Quality Department personnel on quality requirements, procedures, testing and usage of measuring tools
- Identify potential areas of risk and make recommendations for solutions
- Develop reports on quality trends and report trends to BU President and Plant Manager, as well as other staff members
- Identify process improvement initiatives and execute projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and cost.
- Work with fellow staff members on root cause analysis and corrective action resolutions for identified issues and concerns
- Manage scheduling to insure complete coverage of inspectors
- Monitors schedule to accomplish manufacturing goals
- Exercises independent judgment
- All other job duties as assigned or required
What you’ll Need:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a quality or manufacturing related discipline or an equivalent level of experience
- Preferred: 2 years in heavy steel fabrication and welding inspection or quality analysis
- Preferred 2 years of supervisory experience
- Preferred: Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred
- Preferred: Expertise in relevant NDT methods (VT, UT, MT, PT)
- Experience guiding a quality team through ISO 9001:2015 surveillance and certification audits
- Must be able to implement VT inspection certification process for inspectors
- Experience with ISO quality systems
- Demonstrated successful experience leading a departmental function in a manufacturing facility
- Preferred: Expert level of knowledge in welding and/or manufacturing procedures and qualifications
- Understanding of what key performance indicators are and the metrics used in cost of poor quality
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Well versed in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and a sense of urgency
- The ability to maintain reliable and predictable good attendance
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position
- Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds
- This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant.
