The Collections Manager works with a team to manage corporate art collections in Dallas. They are responsible for providing support in all areas of collection management and registration, ensuring that the highest standards in safe, professional handling are followed when lending, borrowing, packing, shipping, installing, importing, exporting, and insuring works of art.
The Collections Manager must plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. The employee is expected to consistently provide excellent project management service as well as represent client needs and goals. Occasional evening hours and some weekend hours are expected. Travel is required. Benefits: 15 days of annual PTO and remote work one day per week offered.
Responsibilities:
. Report to Dallas-based Manager, providing regular input on all activity.
. In collaboration with Account Managers, oversee the care and management of the collections, adhering to current industry standards and best practices.
. Develop, maintain, and implement Collections Management Policy and procedures in collaboration with relevant Account Managers.
. Manage the care of the collections by maintaining inventories, managing the collection database software, cataloging, and storing collections.
. Oversee and implement care, organization, and maintenance of collection storage areas and storage planning.
. Coordinate packing, crating, and transport for local, domestic, and international transit.
. Schedule art handlers and coordinate logistics wit h onsite teams for art movement in collaboration with Account Managers.
. Coordinate artwork preparation, conservation, framing, and photography.
. Oversee install/deinstall of artwork, independently and/or in collaboration with Account Managers as required.
. Work with the team to manage deaccessions and acquisitions.
. Work with clients, as required, to obtain or maintain fine arts insurance coverage and process claims.
. Travel for collection management projects.
. Provides regular communication between the client and team, to provide strong team representation and set proper client and vendor expectations.
. Represent the company at in-person and virtual meetings with clients and other external parties.
. Ensure the security and confidentiality of data.
. Adhere to office policies and procedures.
. Other duties as assigned.
