Summary:
Responsible for billing all dental insurance payers and application of payments to patient accounts.

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform insurance billing functions for dental services provided at the dental clinic.
- Follow-up on all patient accounts to ensure timely and proper payment from all payers.
- Perform billing of secondary insurance, if necessary, and rebilling if needed.
- Investigate credit balances, research unidentified cash accounts.
- Initiate adjustments to patient accounts following established adjustment procedure.
- Turn adjustment request form and back up for adjustment to Manager for approval.
- Follow-up on any self-pay balances.
- Set up payment plans if needed.
- Complete work correspondence daily for all insurance payers.
- Flag all patient accounts with collection problems.
- Document all actions on patient accounts for proper follow-up.
- Complete monthly working of accounts receivable reports.
- Complete monthly working of follow-up reports.
- Inform Manager of any trends with payments or denials for review.
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Two or more years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and training.
