Arizona Christian University is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our Athletics Department as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach. Under the direction of the Head Lacrosse Coach, the Assistant Coach will provide support to all aspects of the lacrosse program, contributing to player development, game strategy, and program administration. Additionally, the coach will assist in the recruitment of the student-athletes.
This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities
- Player Development
- Assist in planning and executing effective practice sessions.
- Provide individualized coaching to enhance players' skills and overall performance.
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture that promotes both individual and collective growth in alignment with the University's core values.
- Game Strategy and Analysis
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop and implement strategic game plans.
- Analyze game footage to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Contribute to in-game decision-making and adjustments.
- Focus on the defensive side of play or specialty positions of face-off and goalie.
- Recruitment
- Assist in identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes.
- Build relationships with high school coaches and lacrosse clubs.
- Provide campus tours and attend recruiting events.
- Program Administration:
- Assist in organizing team events, travel, and other logistical aspects of the program.
- Contribute to budget management and fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic support services to ensure student-athletes excel in their studies.
- Intentional Christian Faith Integration
- Actively engage in mentor relationships with players, pointing them towards Christ.
- Be actively engaged in a church community and personal devotion to following Jesus Christ.
Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.
- Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.
- The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience coaching in a collegiate or high-level program.
- Demonstrated connection to the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University.
- Experience playing or coaching defense, face-off, or goalie ld is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
- General collegiate lacrosse environment
- Office hours to accomplish administrative tasks.
- Meeting with student-athletes as needed.
- Travel to competition and recruitment as needed.
Time Required:
- Standard college calendar for in-season and out-of-season
