Summary
The Program Eligibility Specialist is responsible for obtaining client information, preparing and monitoring case plans, coordinating services with providers, and preparing information and recommendations. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Responsibilities: The DHS Program Eligibility Specialist works under general supervision and is responsible for determining client eligibility, obtaining client information, coordinating services with providers, and preparing information and recommendations. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy including Fair Labor Standards Act.

This position requires computer keyboarding skills, occasional travel including some overnight, lifting up to 20 pounds, some stooping and bending, ability to sit for extended periods of time including riding in a vehicle, overtime, ability to utilize current phone system, clear enunciation, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Position assignments are dependent on fluctuating caseloads and employee resources as determined by management staff.

Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Initial and on-going training is required and may require in-State travel (day and or night stays).

Requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize.

Must be able to escort clients to and from the lobby multiple times a day. Must be able to sit, type, and talk on the phone for long periods of time. Requires some standing for scanning and copying.

Sufficient interpersonal skills to ensure a positive relationship with clients and coworkers.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires the formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree, or related field- OR- 4 years of eligibility or related job experience required to substitute for a degree. Bilingual Spanish or Marshallese speaking candidates required.

Salary/Benefits: This position provides a competitive starting salary of $36,155.00 with excellent benefits including group health and life insurance, state pension/retirement plans, paid maternity leave after 1 year, paid holidays and annual leave time off.
