What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Sales Associate & Wine Bartender position at Arome?

We are a new store and wine bar in downtown Redmond! At Arome our mission is to provide a world of flavors to our customers through a variety of consciously sourced loose-leaf teas spices, herbs, salts, sugars, balsamic vinegar, and olive oils. We strive to provide exception experiences to our customers by welcoming all customers and offering sampling of our core products. We also carry a uniquely curated selection of gourmet kitchen wares. We go to great lengths to find local products and provide all-natural ingredients. Our products are free of additives and preservatives, coloring, MSG and all spices, teas and oil/vinegar is gluten free.

The Retail Sales Associate works closely with store management to fulfill Arome’s mission and strive for established store goals such as annual sales and average ticket. The Associate assists with customer service, inventory management, online order processing, store cleanliness, and store opening and closing procedures on the retail floor and also be able to provide quality service in the wine bar as scheduling requires.

Our retail store is open 7 days a week and our wine bar is open Thursday - Sunday. We'd love to hire candidates who have the interest and ability to work in both locations, but will also consider staff dedicated to either the wine bar or retail store.

Qualifications & Experience

· 21 years of age or older

· Courteous, positive, and professional

· Have a passion for food, cooking, and teas

· Can lift and/or carry up to 30lb unassisted, up and down stairs

· Previous sales experience in a retail environment

· Able to commit to work weekends

· Customer service background

· Basic computer skills; ability to be trained on using a computer based POS

· Employment in job is subject to a satisfactory background check

· Food Handler’s Card

· OLCC Server’s Permit

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

· Previous experience with ecommerce and inventory management

· Local knowledge of the Central Oregon area

· Bar serving experience

Responsibilities

The Associate will perform tasks under four main categories as listed below:

Customer Service and Sales. Communicate with customers in a courteous and professional manner to assist with product selection, resolve customer issues, operate the point of sale and execute returns.

Floor Management. Straighten face displays, sweep and mop, clean bathroom, dust displays, clean windows and door, count register cash, keep sidewalk clear of snow and ice in winter.

Inventory Management. Communicate when low and out of stock products are observed per inventory management system, receive incoming inventory, restock floor with products from storage area, notify Store Manager of special order requests from customers.

Online Sales. Check for online orders and process orders, coordinate order pick-up with carriers. Perform additional tasks as requested by Store Manager or Owner.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 30lbs up and down stairs
  • Pulling/pushing limited to sweeping, and moving deliveries across store on a dolly
  • Bend/stoop to place product on displays, climb steps to back storage area,use of arms, use of wrist, use of hands, grasping, squeezing.

Environment

  • Inside 99% of the time, Outside 1% of the time

Wine Bar.

· Verify identification and age requirements of customers

· Accurately pour tasting and glass pour quantities of wine

· Memorize tasting menu at each rotation and become familiar with all wine offerings

· Process payment from customers

· Clean glasses and utensils

· Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences

· Open and maintain tabs throughout the shift.

· Build rapport with customers to create a positive atmosphere.
