Executive Director

Aroostook Regional Transportation System, Inc. ("ARTS"), a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1979 that provides demand-response door to door transportation services for the people of Aroostook County, Patten/Stacyville in Penobscot County and Danforth in Washington County, is seeking to fill the position of Executive Director.

Duties and responsibilities include: Working with the Board to develop the Agency's vision, goals, strategies and action plans, and following through to plan completion; leading and managing all staff; ensuring financial through sound fiscal planning, acquisition of funding including the preparation of grant proposals, preparation and management of an annual budget and audit; working with the Board to establish policy; overseeing quality and effectiveness of all programs and administrative support functions; representing the Agency in the community and working collaboratively with community partners; and ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Candidates for the position must have the following qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field, or the equivalent in education and closely-related work experience; at least 7 years of progressively-responsible management experience in providing services to meet community needs, including at least 3 years in a senior management role; experience in transportation services preferred. Ability to gain an extensive understanding of government funding and compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all constituencies. Exceptional communication skills, including oral, in writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
