We are seeing a full-time Training Manager to work at our corporate office.

In this role you will ensure the successful execution of training and development initiatives designed to inspire our agent partners and drivers to achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will facilitate and deliver learning solutions using appropriate adult learning methods. This role will also assist with the design and delivery of instructional and training products, materials and programs utilizing a variety of learning platforms (e.g., video, traditional instructor-led training, e-learning, job aids, webinars and electronic manuals). 

Responsibilities also include planning and implementing training schedules and logistical support for identified participant groups, delivering on-site training to agent partners throughout the Wheaton | Bekins network, administering the learning management system (LMS) and publishing educational offerings to the LMS.

What it takes to be successful . . . 

  • Develop and deploy the learning and development strategy and system to build individual talent and team capability to fulfill business and service requirements. This includes on-site visits with agents around the country as well as the facilitation of online learning through video, webinars and the company’s web-based LMS. 
  • Partner with a cross functional group of company leaders to identify and assess learning and development needs.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to determine course objectives and to develop appropriate course content (course outline, presentations, e-Learning modules, task lists and assessment modules, etc.)
  • Work with department personnel to design and develop learning material (videos, presentations, guidelines, learning aids, etc.) that clearly specify learning objectives. 
  • Identify trends and industry best practices in learning and development processes and delivery to ensure excellence in all learning and development initiatives.
  • Mentor, train and coach agent and driver partners and monitor performance.
  • Effectively function in a collaborative team environment. Ability to work across all levels and functions.  Establish relationships with all van line departments and agents.
  • Track attendance of all learning initiatives.
  • Ensure that regular, on-going communication occurs regarding training and development. 
  • Control expenses through effective budgeting for training and development, scheduling of initiatives to minimize labor costs, purchasing decisions, and supplies inventory.
  • Determine best method to deliver appropriate training, e.g., video, 3rd party, e-Learning, classroom, OJT.
  • Ensure new and existing course material is current, accurate, engaging, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles.
  • Create a positive learning climate through training facilitation: convey all learning objectives, encourage participation and build learner motivation to ensure learning outcomes are met. 
  • Design and develop formal and informal learning solutions using a variety of methods. Revise current course offerings, as needed, based on evaluation results.
  • Ensure that programs align with the organization's business goals.
  • Supervise & lead Training Development Specialist in creation of training materials.

The experience and education you need . . . 

  • 1-3 years supervisory experience. 
  • Excellent people skills and ability to effectively interface with all levels of the company. 
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced work environment while balancing multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to assimilate large amounts of information quickly. 
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. E-learning authoring tools experience (Articulate, Storyline, and Captivate), video editing experience and learning management systems. 
  • Bachelor’s degree, with 3-5 years of professional experience in training and workplace learning. Professional training or instructional design certification is preferred.
