What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist - Full-Time position at Artesia General Hospital?
JOB SUMMARY:
Receives, obtains and processes specimens for laboratory analysis on all patient age groups.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collect and process venous and capillary samples from all patient age groups.
- Perform and document therapeutic phlebotomies.
- Document and record samples/results.
- Accession and process referral testing samples.
- Maintain records, files and route patient reports.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Participate and promote QA activities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:
- Phlebotomy skill and competency.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education – High school graduate or equivalent; formal phlebotomy training preferred.
- Work Experience – 6 months phlebotomy preferred.
- Training – N/A
- License/Certification – Certified Phlebotomist, CMA, EMT-B preferred.
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
