Arthrex is currently seeking a Wellness Specialist II who will act as the point person for the company’s wellness initiative at our growing Pendleton, SC location. The ideal candidate will have a wellness background, the ability to take initiative, and collaborate with: employees, our onsite medical clinic, our FL team, and the HR team. Main Objective:
The Wellness Specialist works under the direction of the Wellness Director to facilitate a multi-site worksite wellbeing program including the development and implementation of strategic programs to prevent disease, manage chronic conditions and promote well-being. This position promotes health and well-being through a variety of strategic methods, including but not limited to individual consultations, group fitness classes, small group training, health education classes, wellness challenges, seminars, preventive health screenings, flu shot clinics and other wellness initiatives. This position requires an energetic individual with a passion for healthy living and a desire to help others reach their personal goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist management in the design, implementation and evaluation of wellness and fitness initiatives to support employee wellbeing.
Collaborate with Meetings and Events. Arthrex Agencies and third-party guests to provide wellness programs and events.
Assist with daily operations of wellness incentives.
Ensure safety, cleanliness and organization of the wellness facility and services.
Understand and enforce Arthrex Wellness Center policies and procedures with clients using excellent customer service skills.
Attain and maintain a thorough working knowledge of each piece of exercise equipment and provide one-on-one instruction on proper use for optimal benefits based on health status and goals.
Develop and instruct individual and or group exercise programs/classes based on department’s needs.
Create and manage an annual schedule of group fitness offerings providing a variety of class options based on employee interests. Develop new content daily for small group training classes and learn and instruct new programming quarterly for pre-choreographed classes.
Motivate individuals and participants to achieve specific health goals.
Collaborate with the Arthrex Medical Center and other internal and external partners to promote employee well-being through the creation and facilitation of programming targeting prevalent health conditions.
Support on-site physical therapist to assist employees in carrying our therapy regimens.
Assist management in planning and presenting appropriate fitness/wellness programs and managing external health/wellness vendors.
Facilitate health education programs/classes/webinars.
Market and manage client registration portals for all programs.
Maintain a current knowledge of industry developments and propose programming, as appropriate, to best serve our clients. Brings awareness to management team of new wellness initiatives and partners with experts to find solutions.
Organize, implement, and oversee wellbeing initiatives including but not limited to recreational leagues, athletic tournaments, team building activities and other special events for employees and third parties.
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners to provide strategies to meet business objectives.
Cross-train to assist with other facility operations including the Bio Bar.
Conduct sales and other daily operations for Arthrex Proud.
Identify, address and resolve employee/guest problems or complaints and escalate when appropriate.
Demonstrate a professional and caring approach in all interactions and with all levels of the organization.
Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of all documentation and employee interactions.
Required Education/Experience:
Associate degree required; bachelor’s preferred
4 or more years of experience in fitness/wellness, corporate environment preferred.
Nationally recognized certifications preferred
Knowledge:
Frequent use and/or application of basic wellness procedures, practices, and concepts. Regular experience with applicable wellness platforms and software.
Skills:
Strong problem solving, communication abilities required.
Must be detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at a time.
Ability to communicate issues and problem solve effectively with team members, employees and external departments. Intermediate working knowledge of all exercise equipment and instruction on proper use for optimal benefits based on health status and goals. ·
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of instructing multiple group fitness class formats
Advanced knowledge of exercise program design for healthy adults.
Intermediate knowledge in wellness event planning and execution including tournaments, leagues, team building, etc. with moderate oversight
Intermediate marketing skills for all department initiatives
Reasoning Ability:
Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures. Follows chain-of-command.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
Command of Microsoft PC based programs (MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), various fitness equipment.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.
Language and Communication Skills:
Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.
