Job Title: Postal Clerk
Reports to: Eagle Outlet, CPO and Purchasing Manager
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Job Purpose:
The Postal Clerk is the primary person that will receive, distribute, and ship-out mail and packages for the Asbury University community. An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for handling duties in the Campus Post Office including:
- Receiving, sorting, and properly distributing all mail and packages.
- Selling postages.
- Weighing packages.
- Applying proper postages.
- Assisting customers.
- Learn and keep up to date on USPS regulations.
- Maintain an accurate list of student names and corresponding mailbox numbers.
- Assist customers with lost or misguided mail pieces.
- Help cashier in Eagle Outlet as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to lift heavy boxes weighing 50 – 70 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Potential exists to work some evenings and weekends.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position.
Qualifications:
- High school education.
- Some experience in mailroom preferred but not necessary.
- A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
