We are seeking an experienced Controller with a background in Nonprofit or Media sectors. The ideal candidate will excel in overseeing day-to-day financial operations, leading a small finance team, conducting audits, and managing complex accounting tasks.
Title: Controller
Location: Midtown Manhattan
Pay Rate: $50/HR-$60/HR
Duration: 3 Month Assignment (Filling in for Paternity Leave)
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a Controller.
- Background in Nonprofit or Media sectors preferred.
Responsibilities:
Oversight and Leadership:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations.
- Provide oversight of financial processes and procedures.
- Supervise and lead a finance team of 2 (AR and AP specialists).
- Offer guidance and leadership to ensure team effectiveness.
Financial Audits and Reconciliation:
- Conduct audits as necessary to maintain financial accuracy.
- Prepare reconciliations for various financial accounts.
- Handle complex accounting tasks and manage diverse revenue streams.
Payroll, Payables, and Communication:
- Oversee the payroll cycle for efficient processing.
- Manage payables and execute check runs.
- Communicate effectively regarding incoming funds.
- Ensure clear communication within the finance team.
Accounts Receivable/Payable and Journal Entries:
- Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes.
- Manage and review journal entries to maintain accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Monthly Close Process:
- Lead the monthly close process.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
