Ascendo Resources is in search of a Human Resources Manager! Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the HR Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources department including hiring and interviewing staff, employment compensation, employee relations, benefits and leave of absence, training, employee services, and developing and enforcing company policies and practices.
OVERALL-
- HR Tasks: Assisting with new hire orientation, terminations, compliance, and employee relations
- Payroll: Overseeing payroll – changing pay rates, changes in deductions, ensuring hourly employees are paid in full, 3rd party sick days, etc.
- Benefits: Answer employee questions about benefits and directing them to the appropriate parties
WORK EXPERIENCES
- 5 years of prior related work experience in non-profit management with proven track record of successful collaboration with senior management.
- Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments
- Ability to build, manage and sustain constructive relationships with management staff, peers, colleagues and consumers across divisions and departments and with external stakeholders.
- Experience with budget management.
DETAILED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enhances the organization’s human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating HR services, and policies, programs, and practices.
- Supports organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program
- Prepares employees for their roles by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
- Implements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits
- Fosters and promotes an inclusive and equal employment work environment for our staff and the diverse community we serve
- Prepares budget of human resources operations
- Provides management direction and counseling
- Supervise HR Associate and temporary staff as needed.
Recruitment & Retention-
- Support current and future business needs through the recruitment, development, engagement, motivation and preservation of our employees
- Support the talent development of our employees through professional development, career development, and improved performance management
- Maintains the organizational structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Initiate contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services.
- Recruits, interviews, tests, select employees to fill vacant positions, and conduct onboarding orientation and training.
Compliance, Risk Management, and Reporting-
- Proactively review and build recommendations from our data relating to turnover, hiring metrics, engagement surveys, diversity, and inclusion, hiring process, and more.
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
- Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
- Retains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
- Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
- Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner and advisor to departments on all areas of HR compliance including employee relations, ADA, and risk management issues to create a healthy and safe workplace while ensuring safety and OSHA requirements are in being followed.
- Coordinates Safety Committee meeting and acts as Safety Director.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
